Reddick Mansion Tours

The Reddick Mansion stands facing historic Washington Square
and was built in 1858 for the then-costly sum of $25,000. Mr.
Reddick served as a state senator. Mr. Stephen A. Douglas was
one of the many politicians entertained at the Reddick’s' home.

This mansion has been restored to its original splendor
and is open for tours!

Join us for a history tour that Starved Rock Lodge has to offer. Start off with a delicious Hot Lunch Buffet in the rustic dining room at Starved Rock Lodge. Next, board one of our trolleys for a ride to our State Park’s Visitor Center. Your trolley will also take you on a relaxing ride to the New Canal Boat located in LaSalle. Step back in time with period dressed interpreters on this 1-hour mule-pulled canal boat ride.

Join us for a guided hike from the Lodge to LaSalle and Tonti Canyons.
Participants meet in the Hotel Lobby to pick up a lunch and a
“Starved Rock” backpack. Hikers will stop for lunch once they reach
LaSalle Canyon. After lunch, the hike continues to Eagles Cliff and
 Lover’s Leap. The tour concludes at the Lodge about 2:00pm.


 Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear.
 Hike will be approximately 4 ˝ miles round trip.
 Lunch includes your choice of turkey, ham or peanut butter and jelly;
 bag of chips; freshly-baked cookie; piece of fruit; and a bottle of water.

Experience the fun of the outdoor adventure at Starved
Rock State Park with a guided walk to three spectacular
waterfalls and canyons.  You’ll see French, St. Louis and
Ottawa Canyons.  The tour will include lunch from the
special lunch menu and a relaxing, historic trolley ride.

  This is a walking tour and is not recommended for
individuals with limited mobility.

Board a trolley outside of the Great Hall area of the Lodge.
  Enjoy a historic trolley ride with stops at the Starved Rock
State Park Visitor Center where you will see a short video of
the area.  You will also travel to the Illinois Waterway Visitor
Center where you will see Starved Rock from across the river
and watch as the river traffic lock through the locks.  You will
also travel through the Village of Utica and hear about the
Illinois and Michigan Canal.  While aboard, the driver will
narrate the history and legends of the area.

Twenty-eight wineries will be participating in
the state’s largest festival of Illinois wine at the
Vintage Illinois Wine Festival at Matthiessen State Park
(just minutes south of Starved Rock).

The festival runs
Saturday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

For festival advanced tickets and information please

Vintage Illinois at Starved Rock is located
in a flat grassy area at Matthiessen State Park, 
and will happen, rain or shine!  

It is best to wear sunscreen. All guests should be
prepared with photo identification showing proof of age.

The festival does have chairs and tables, but guests
should bring blankets and lawn chairs to guarantee seating.

at Starved Rock Lodge.

dundunba at try. Celebrate in community through the
